The Schwalbe MOTION SPIKE is the right bike tire for anyone wanting to ride reliably and purposefully even in winter conditions. With up to 120 spikes (on a 28 inch diameter tire) it offers good control on smooth, snow-covered roads. Suitable for occasional commuting or touring in moderate winter conditions. If you regularly ride on icy streets or are looking for maximum control, we recommend our MARATHON Plus Spike. With up to 240 spikes and our highest level of puncture protection.

OPTIMAL TRACTION WITH WINTER COMPOUND

Like all Schwalbe winter tires, the MOTION Spike is made with a specially developed winter compound. The compound remains flexible even in icy temperatures offering reliable traction on smooth surfaces. So even in deepest winter you can ride with complete confidence.

TIRE TUNING WITH CORRECT TIRE PRESSURE

To get the best out of the Schwalbe MOTION Spike, always bear in mind the correct tire pressure. In dry conditions, you can increase the tire pressure slightly as the tires roll faster on paved roads. In rain, snow or ice, you should reduce the tire pressure a little to improve grip. Always check the maximum and minimum which are marked on the sides of the tire. Our Pressure Guide helps you to find the appropriate tire pressure.

SAFETY THROUGH TECHNOLOGY

GRIPPY TREAD WITH GROOVES

Each lug on the Schwalbe MOTION Spike has a groove profile. The grooves offer additional grip especially when cornering or braking. The tread pattern also ensures good self-cleaning in snowy slush. This allows you to ride with complete confidence on wet or snowy roads.

HOW TO BREAK IN SPIKES PROPERLY

So your Schwalbe MOTION Spike will carry you for thousands of kilometers on asphalt as well as through ice and snow, you should definitely break it in properly—and do the same for all other Schwalbe studded tires. Break the tires in for around 40 kilometers on the road avoiding abrupt braking or powerful accelerating. This will mean the spikes sit more securely providing a lasting, secure grip. Should you lose any spikes, they are easily replaced. We offer spare spikes or a complete replacement kit including an insertion tool.

VISIBILITY

The MOTION Spike has reflective stripes on the side. This provides additional visibility in the dark and poor conditions for improved safety in traffic. In line with the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations these replace the classic spoke reflectors
