EACH AND EVERY DEVELOPMENT STARTS WITH PEOPLE –
THEIR IDEAS, EXPERIENCES AND VIEWS ON MOBILITY.
FULL CIRCLE BEGINS WITH UNITY.
As a family-owned business, Schwalbe takes a long-term view, also regarding how we work together: we believe in straightforward communication, personal interaction and making decisions where our expertise lies. Trust, personal responsibility and dealing openly with mistakes form the foundation for this. Our view of markets and partnerships is shaped by people of 16 different nationalities. In 2025, 102 employees took part in courses of further training; as of 2027, Schwalbe Campus will provide a central platform for the transfer of knowledge, focusing on sustainability, CSR and leadership.
LOCAL COMMITMENT.
For us, economic success and social cohesion are inextricably linked. This is why we sponsor clubs, projects and institutions that bring people together, particularly in the Oberberg region: from VfL Gummersbach and TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt through German wheelchair basketball to the theater in Bergneustadt. In 2025, 50 projects were funded, seven of which were Herzensangelegenheiten (matters close to the heart) initiated by our own personnel. Mobility is also promoted within our company, by a bike leasing scheme and our own bicycle workshop, earning us an ADFC gold certificate as a cycle-friendly employer.
The Schwalbe Future Award
The Schwalbe Foundation has been endeavoring to make mobility socially fairer and more viable for the future since 2024, sponsoring 17 projects in its first year. The Schwalbe Future Award, part of the JUGEND HILFT! program, recognizes children and young people who make a positive contribution to the environment and climate. The first prize-winner is the Sustainability Club at Wiedtal High School that’s been campaigning for the rainforest in Indonesia since 2018. Moreover, the Schwalbe Children’s Advisory Council made up of 23 offspring of employees has assigned its own budget to various charitable projects since 2022.
RESPONSIBILITY DOESN’T STOP AT THE FACTORY GATES.
Our supplier code of conduct defines the social, ecological and ethical requirements made of our business partners, from human rights through fair working conditions to responsibility for the environment. All relevant tier 1 and tier 2 partners have signed it and our production sites are audited according to SEDEX. By 2028, we aim to achieve full transparency regarding all upstream raw material suppliers in Asia. Together with the bicycle industry, Shift Cycling Culture and ZIV, we’ve also helped draw up an industry-wide supply chain code of conduct.
