Since 2015, we have been recycling bicycle inner tubes and using the recycled material in the production of new tubes without any loss of quality! The recycling process takes place with the help of our specially developed devulcanization process. The point of recycling is located right at our factory in Indonesia, further reducing the need for material transportation. Once all Schwalbe Recycling System operations (including transportation routes) are accounted for, only one fifth of the energy is consumed when compared to the production of new butyl rubber.
The Schwalbe tube recycling system was awarded the 2015 Eurobike Green Award, the 2020 Green Concept Award, and the 2021 German Sustainability Award.
HOW USED TUBES ARE SHIPPED
THE CARDBOARD BOX:
Collect hoses in a cardboard box. Any cardboard box may be used.
THE DIMENSIONS:
Maximum parcel dimensions: 50 cm x 50 cm x 80 cm
THE WEIGHT:
Maximum: 20 kg (approx. 120 tubes)
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON POSSIBLE COSTS:
Sending in old tubes is free of charge for you. However, if a cardboard box is sent in that exceeds the weight of 18 kg or the belt size of 300 cm, this may result in higher costs. In this case, we reserve the right to pass on the costs incurred to the sender.
CONTENTS:
Please only collect used butyl bicycle inner tubes in the package!
All brands are permitted!
Attention! Please do not return hoses filled with sealant! The sealant will leak and soak the boxes during transport.
SHIPPING:
Once you have collected enough tubes (max. 20 kg), seal the parcel (preferably with paper tape to enable single-type packaging recycling), print out the parcel label and attach it clearly visible to the largest surface of the box.
