99 MILESTONES TUBE RECYCLING Every Schwalbe tube is 100% recyclable. Without any loss of quality we can use recycled material in the production of new tubes. We have developed in our own factory a special devulcanization process and for several years, it has proved very successful. Right now every Schwalbe standard tube is made up of 20% recycled old tubes. Taking into account all transport routes, the energy balance is positive. Just a fifth of the energy is used in comparison with the production of new butyl. GREEN COMPOUND Tread rubber with polymers only made from renewable and recycled raw materials. Special technology from Schwalbe. For the first time it is possible to produce the tread rubber of a bicycle tire with polymers only from renewable and recycled raw materials in a demanding standard quality (grip/durability). This saves large amounts of energy and resources in the manufacture of tires. GREENGUARD Puncture protection with recycled natural rubber. GreenGuard is the name of the 3 mm thick green puncture protection belt made of special India rubber. Highly elastic and partly made from recycled material, it is also used for Germany's best-selling bicycle tire, the Schwalbe Marathon. GUT ZU WISSEN Do not change tires too early. A bicycle tire can still be used without problems even with a worn tread (exception: MTB tyres). The tire does not need to be replaced until the puncture protection belt or carcass threads become visible. However, as resistance to punctures is also influenced by the thickness of the tread, it may make sense to change the iyre beforehand. Pay attention to air pressure. The sidewalls of bicycle tires often break before the tread has worn through. In the vast majority of cases, this premature wear is due to continued use with insufficient air pressure, causing. unnecessarily high abrasion. Therefore, check the air pressure of tires at least once a month.
